A My Home COO Back to Balance Series Post

Why a Weekly Reset Matters

Life moves fast. Between school, work, sports, meals, and a never-ending list of logistics, it’s easy for weeks to blur together. That’s why families who thrive often share one secret: a weekly reset.

Think of it as a standing meeting with your household. In 20 minutes, you can align schedules, set priorities, and prevent little problems from snowballing into chaos.

What a Weekly Reset Looks Like

The reset isn’t complicated. In fact, it works best when it’s simple:

  1. Review the Calendar

    • Check everyone’s upcoming commitments.

    • Confirm who is driving where, and when.

    • Add in overlooked tasks (permission slips, grocery runs, deadlines).

  2. Set Priorities

    • What are the 2–3 most important things for the week?

    • Call them out so the whole family knows.

  3. Prep Zones

    • Check lunch supplies, laundry, and sports gear.

    • Restock or reset anything that could derail a morning.

Tools That Help

The Weekly Reset works with whatever system your family uses — but having the right tools makes it easier.

  • Shared Calendar (Google Calendar, Cozi, or even a wall calendar)

  • Command Center Worksheet → My Home COO’s free Weekly Command Center template pulls priorities, meals, and logistics into one place.

  • Delegation List → Use it to assign age-appropriate tasks, so the load doesn’t fall on one person.

Start Small

Don’t overthink it. Begin with just a 15-minute family check-in on Sunday evening. Add your solo prep (using the Command Center) right after. Over time, this rhythm becomes the anchor for your household — the COO’s meeting that keeps things running smoothly.

The Leadership Lens

At work, leaders reset priorities every week to keep their teams aligned. At home, the same principle applies. The Weekly Reset is your family’s leadership habit — the one that takes you from reactive to proactive.

Want to try it this week? Download the free Weekly Command Center and set a 15-minute reset with your family.

Because leadership doesn’t stop at the office door. It starts with the systems that make home life flow.
